Hold On Loosely To The Future

Just hold on loosely but don’t let go

If you cling to tightly you’re gonna lose control

If you grew up in the 80s you know those are lyrics from the 38 special rocker tune.

They also apply to holding on too tight to any particular vision of how you’ll get to that future.

“I know not what the future holds, but I know who holds the future” is the featured quote on my calendar (quote by Carson Wrenn).

The best laid plans often are decimated by reality, especially with infertility.

There are so many variables in the whole process, that you either have to learn to adjust your vision along the way, or drive yourself insane trying to make the present conform to your vision of you are going to get to your future.

Like the Alan Jackson song from about a decade ago “Just be patient…I’m a work in progress”.

Life is a work in progress.

Many times when things didn’t work out for us it turned out in hindsight it was because we were on the wrong path.

Doing the wrong type of cycle, with the wrong doctor at the wrong clinic.

We had to change paths again and again.

Make bigger sacrifices, and stretch the boundaries of our faith like never before.

We had to alter the plan to get there, but not alter the plan altogether.

If you are getting to that losing your mind mode, loosen your grip on the present a little bit.

Let it just flow.

You might just find that if you loosen that hold and open up to a change in directions, the wind at your back will help you get where you want to go a lot faster.
